Moscow City Museum – 9/17/17

From living in one of the so called most expensive cities, NYC, I learned how to find a lot of really good deals and tons of free activities and events. I was quite proud that after only a month in Moscow I discovered that a lot of museums are free on the 3rd Sunday of the month. So I did my research and chose a museum, the Moscow City Museum.

Between looking up the museums and arriving at the museum something went amiss. It turns out I ended up having to pay one of the highest admissions for a museum in Moscow. The lady didn’t speak English and when I asked about the free admission through my language translator app she just looked confused and slowly shook her head no at me. It wasn’t the same Moscow City Museum I had found online and carefully researched.

The museum turned out to be more of an observation tower than museum. It was the Empire State Building of Moscow, but with significantly less people and no waiting in lines….and not as tall. It wasn’t quite what I was expecting and I was disappointed in my failure in finding a good deal, but it got me out exploring and learning a bit about Moscow. The building was in a part of the city, Moscow City, I have not visited before. It is a newer commercial area with high rise buildings that is known as the Moscow International Business Center. In the museum I learned about the construction of the buildings and the surrounding area.

I learned in the museum that the central core (mall) had a huge water foundation. Of course I needed to check that off and venture to my 6th mall in Moscow????

I’m still not quite sorted on how I ended up where I ended up. I did a quick search for the museum again and the one I intended to visit comes up, but nothing of the one I actually visited. So I put up my hands and say “who knows!”…..like usual.
