Moab may be a small town in Utah, but it is a world class destination for outdoor adventures set against stunning scenery. With Arches National Park, Canyonlands National Park, and Dead Horse State Park surrounding the city, there is no shortage of places to explore.

After an incredible adventure in Moab, you’ll need to refuel before you can enjoy another day of epic explorations. Luckily Moab is one of the best national park gateway towns for food. Many of the NP gateway towns have slim pickings with only pizza and burger options. Considering Moab only has about 5000 residents, there really are a lot of great choices for places to eat in Moab.

Head over to my full Moab guide for everything you need to know to visit Arches NP, Canyonlands NP, and Dead Horse SP. Plus find other things to do in Moab, transportation options, and where to stay in Moab.

Keep reading for all the best places to eat in Moab below! Be prepared that there is usually a wait at most restaurants in Moab in the evening. Check each restaurant’s website for their current hours.

Places to Eat in Moab

Broken Oar

Broccoli, pulled pork, roasted potatoes, and sweet potato fries from Broken Oar in Moab

French fries, sweet potato fries, loaded fries, mashed potatoes, roasted potatoes…..if you like potatoes you have come to one of the best places to eat in Moab! Broken Oar does potatoes really well. The sweet potato fries with a house blend of cinnamon sugar, salt, caramel, and lemon zest are a top choice. The roasted potatoes are also very good.

The American eatery serves a lot of other really good food too, including burgers, steaks, pasta, and barbecue. There is something for everyone on the menu. I was a fan of the pulled pork and happy with the portion size too.

The rustic log cabin atmosphere creates an upscale casual dining experience. The service was also really good even though I received the wrong side by mistake. It worked out in my favor as then I was able to have three sides for the price of two!

Spitfire Smokehouse

Speaking of BBQ, if you’re craving some good smoked meat and want a more casual dining experience, Spitfire Smokehouse is your answer. It is a counter serve restaurant with indoor and patio dining.

BBQ is one of my favorite foods. I have had a lot of great southern BBQ, especially in Atlanta. I have high food standards in general, but for BBQ even more so. I can honestly say the pulled pork sandwich at Spitfire was one of the best I have had anywhere. It is no doubt one of the Moab restaurants you shouldn’t miss.

Arches Thai

Can you believe in a Utah town of about 5000 that there is not one, but two Thai restaurants? That’s right, two of the best places to eat in Moab are Thai restaurants.

I loved the cozy atmosphere with a fireplace at Arches Thai. There’s a full menu of traditional Thai dishes from noodles, to curries, to fried rice.

Thai Bella

Khao Soi from Thai Bella - best places to eat in Moab

Thai Bella is the second of the two Thai restaurants in Moab. It’s located within a building that seems like it was a former house. The atmosphere is welcoming and makes you feel like you are eating in someone’s dining room. There are only around 10 tables so the restaurant definitely fills up fast.

The menu is full of typical Thai dishes. Khai Soi is one of their best sellers and I could see why. I have had the pleasure of eating the northern Thailand coconut curry soup in Bangkok. I can confidently say that Thai Bella does a really good job with the dish. Not only is it beautiful, but it also tastes like the delicious authentic version.

Sultan Mediterranean Grill

Standing in front of Sultan Mediterranean Grill - Moab Restaurants

Head to Sultan Mediterranean Grill for Greek and Lebanese dishes. I have only positive comments to make about the food, well except for the scorching hot bite of pepper I barely survived. You can easily avoid the pepper if you choose.

The rest of the food was delicious. I find the meat on kabobs tough occasionally, but the ground beef and lamb kabob was cooked perfectly. I can still savor the taste of the za’atar bread.

The decor in the restaurant had some nice Mediterranean touches. Perhaps I was attracted to the color theme that is similar to my blog’s colors! The only downside of the restaurant is it can be a little difficult to park due to the angle of the parking lot off of the main road through Moab. I wouldn’t let this keep you though as it is one of the best restaurants in Moab.

Antica Forma

Sitting at a table at Antica Forma with pizza

Don’t worry, if the national park towns with pizzas are more your style, you can have pizza in Moab too. The food at Antica Forma will definitely be higher quality than what you would order in other towns. While the restaurant also serves pasta, it is known for their authentic neapolitan style pizzas. One of the head pizzaiolos (pizza makers) has a family pizzeria in Naples and the other was trained by top pizzaiolos in NYC.

The wait might be long, but the pizzas come out very quickly. The pizzas cook for about 90 seconds in a traditional oven from Naples, Italy. All the ingredients are fresh from Italy or made in house. It reminded me of the pizzas I loved in Naples!

More Places to Eat in Moab

I’m a big foodie, but with packed lunches on the trail during the day I can only dine out so many times on each trip to Moab. The following places are on my list for a future visit to Moab. Hopefully I will have many, many more visits to Moab! A few of these places to eat in Moab close in January and February.
