Most people see travel blogging as fun and exciting, but not as work. Many people love reading the travel stories and appreciate getting ideas for their own travels, but they don’t know the extent of time that goes into creating just one blog post and sharing it with the world. That is why I was so excited to be noticed and recognized for the work I am putting into my blog by receiving the Sunshine Blogger Award! Thank you to Amanda from My Backpacker Life for nominating me! Continue reading to find out more about the award and the 11 bloggers I am nominating.

What is the Sunshine Blogger Award

3. Nominate 11 new bloggers and ask them 11 new questions.

4. On your post list the Sunshine Blogger Award logo and rules.

The Questions I Received from Amanda

When did you go on your first trip and where did you go?

Sunshine Blogger Award Questions
At Disney World in 1997!

My first big trip and my first time on an airplane was going to Florida. In third grade my Dad and I hopped on a plane from Chicago to Orlando. We met an uncle and aunt in Orlando for a few days of Disney and theme-park fun!

When did you start travel blogging and what is your niche?

Bolshoi Theater Moscow
In front of the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow, Russia

I started travel blogging in the Fall of 2017 when I was living abroad in Russia. My blog started out as a way to share what life was like in Russia with my family and friends. It has now expanded to adventure, culture and food experiences throughout North America, South America and Europe.

What is your favorite destination so far and why?

Boca Juniors Futbol Buenos Aires
At a Boca Juniors Fútbol match in Buenos Aires

It is so hard to pick a favorite, but I would have to say Buenos Aires. Since moving out of NYC I really miss it. Buenos Aires reminds me of NYC, but the Latin equivalent of course!

Have you ever visited a place you wouldn’t recommend to others?

During college I went to Stonehenge in England. Honestly I don’t know what all the hype is about!? Go to England, but skip Stonehenge.

Do you prefer to travel solo or with someone/in a group?

Typically I travel solo, which I really enjoy. I do like traveling with other people as well.

What is your dream destination?

There are so many places I hope to go to one day. Patagonia is at the top of my list. I had a trip booked, but was forced to cancel due to an injury.

Have you ever tried traveling by train? If yes, did you enjoy it?

Train Station in Austria
Train Station in Austria

Traveling by train is fantastic! It’s probably my favorite way to travel because in Europe especially it is quick and efficient. You don’t need to arrive hours ahead of time and stress out about security and baggage policies like when flying. In Austria and Scotland my mom and I traveled all around the countries almost entirely by train on two separate trips.

Where are you from and what are the must-sees in your city/country?

I’m from the state of Wisconsin in the USA. Wisconsin isn’t on most people’s lists to visit when they travel within the country, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t things to do and see. The Wisconsin Dells is one of my favorite places. It is rightfully known as the waterpark capital of the world.

What was the latest place you visited?

I was abroad for about five months in the first half of the year. The last place I was abroad before coming back to the US, and spending some time in NYC and now Wisconsin, was the Trentino region of Italy.

Show us a photo from that trip!

Sunshine Blogger Award Questions
Doing yoga at Buonconsiglio Castle in Trento, Italy!

Have you ever made a mistake during a trip that you’d like to warn others about?

I have had problems with my credit cards not working. It’s important to let your financial institutions know when and where you are traveling. If you don’t they might think there is fraud on your card and decline purchases. Trust me, that will leave you in a tricky situation!

Congratulations! I do agree with you about calling your banks an credit cards, letting you know that you are traveling. I found myself in Canada and all of my cards were declined. I called the banks and got it cleared up, but I wish I had done it before leaving!
