A Whirlwind : 1/02 – 1/04

The time I spent in Wisconsin flew by. The next few days were even more of a whirlwind.

I was going to fly to NYC from Chicago, so instead of getting up early for a flight I thought it would be better to go the day before and have a little mini-getaway with my mom. It wasn’t much time but we managed to visit the Chicago History Museum and have some deep dish pizza at Gino’s East. We even braved the bitter below zero temperatures to do some walking around.

Within 24 hours of arriving in Chicago I was on a plane again to NYC. As fast-paced and stressful as life can be in NYC, I have really missed the city after I moved overseas. As I stepped out onto the pavement and started dodging tourists in Herald Square I felt the rush that I only get in the city that never sleeps.

Quality tasty food is really important to me and brings me a great deal of joy. The NYC food scene offers any cuisine you could imagine. Considering my favorite cuisines are Italian and Thai I chose those types of food for my two dinners with friends. While I eat desserts and fried foods without guilt, I also genuinely enjoy healthy foods. The amount of fast food healthy options in NYC is something I never predicted that I would miss. Therefore on the cold blizzardy day I went to one of the many create your own salad places to have a fresh salad šŸ™‚

The city is full of options and variety of everything. For example, I did a program called ClassPass which allowed me to attend 100s of different types of fitness studios in all five of the boroughs and surrounding area. During this visit I made sure to go back to one of my favorites for a much needed workout after all the holiday delicacies.

There are numerous theatre options available in Moscow. Nothing compares with Broadway though! So of course I needed to do a dinner and show with my Broadway Buddy!

It’s only January 4th and I have already had two mini-excursions. I think this year is off to a great start!
