On My Way to Moscow with Aeroflot

I can’t believe I am actually moving to Moscow, Russia! Everyone on my flight seemed to speak Russian except me. Regardless of my blank stares, the flight attendants kept speaking to me in Russian.

There were two separate meal services that followed the same routine. By the end of the flight when they came around to take drink orders I was able to successfully answer their Russian question with my drink order. Success!

Then came the 2nd meal. I was feeling confident and prepared to know my answer, because we were given the menus for both of the meals ahead of time. It was a 3 course meal with the middle course being an option. When asked which option I wanted I proudly answered with my prepared response of “chicken”. The flight attendant proceeded to say something. I’m not sure if It was because it was 8 in the morning and I had barely slept at all or if it was her accent speaking Russian, but I did not know if she was speaking Russian or English or what she said. After my blank stare she then said it was breakfast. So after my careful preparation, it turned out the menu they gave us only had one correct meal on it. She even had to repeat omelet or pancake twice to me. I can only imagine the deer in the headlights look I had on my face and that I am sure will become quite the frequent look for me!

I successfully survived my first long-haul flight! Stay tuned for what awaits me in Moscow, Russia!
